July 2014 Glossy Box - Stars and Stripes Themed Box

It's only been a few weeks since I received my June Glossy Box and now I have received my July box. I've been really good and stayed away from blog posts and photos of this months box so it would be a surprise when I got mine. I did see that we would all be receiving the Bella Pierre lipstick but there were three shades so it was exciting to see which one I got!!

Here's what I got!!

ABSOLUTE New York Perfecting Eyeshadow Primer $4.99 nicka.com:-  I was really excited to see this in my Glossy Box as I'm always up for trying new products we don't get in the UK, however after trying it I was really disappointed to see that my eye shadow was creasing after about 4 hours of me using this primer. I'm a huge fan of Mac's painterly paint pot so this stiff competition and unfortunately for me it didn't do what it said. I'm going to give it another go though and see if my thoughts change as the colour and feel of it on my eyes was fine and didn't feel greasy at all.

Carmex Lip Balm £2.69 graftonsbeauty.co.uk:- Now everyone that knows me knows my bag is FULL of different lip products. I'm obsessed with a good lip balm so I was really happy to get a new Carmex to add to my ever growing collection, even though I think Dan has his eye on this!!

Bellapierre Cosmetics Ltd Mineral Lipstick £20 bellapierre.co.uk:- I was so excited when I heard that everyone was getting a full sized lipstick and I was secretly hoping I would get a red one as I've never had a red lipstick before as I've always played it safe and gone for lighter pinks and more natural colours. But I really want to take the plunge and rock a red lip!! If I'm honest the packaging felt a little cheap to me and at £20 I expected it to be a bit fancier. According to the card that comes in the box this has natural waxes, mineral pigments and antioxidants including vitamin C and E which provides long lasting colour and protection against the sun which is brilliant! The colour is really pretty and such a striking red so I can't wait to experiment with this.

Broadway Nails in PRESS Press on Manicure £7.99 superdrug.com:- This item disappointed me a little. I haven't worn stick on nails since I was a teen and if I'm honest this looked like something you would give to a child when they started experimenting with make up and nail varnishes. My nails are actually longer than the fake ones so unfortunately these will be passed onto someone else that may like them.

Mary Kay Cosmetics Lash love Mascara £16 marykay.co.uk:- Now this may cause a bit of a debate but I've never been a massive fan of Mary Kay, I've tried a few of their items in the past and they've never really impressed me so I was a little gutted when I saw this. However I was only saying the other day on Twitter that I needed a new mascara so I've given this a go.......and it's rubbish. I found applying it really difficult as it came out really clumpy on my lashes. Although the colour is black it doesn't seem very dark. The smell of it really puts me off as well which sounds really off but it smells very chemically, sort of like it's gone off!!

Overall I am really pleased with this months box and I loved the theme of stars and stripes. Getting a few American brands that I hadn't heard of was a really nice surprise and I enjoyed trying them out.
