Baker Days Letterbox Cake Review

Last week Baker Days got in touch with me via their Twitter and asked if I would like to try out one of their Letterbox cakes. Once I visited their website to find out what a Letterbox cake actually was I jumped at the chance, you all know I can't resist a bit of cake!

Now came the all important task of choosing which of cake I would like. They really do have cakes for all occasions, whether it's someones birthday, a new baby, wishing someone luck, a christening or even a 'Just to Say' cake they cover everything. As you know Dan and I celebrated our 6th Anniversary this week so I decided to get a cake to mark the occasion. I was able to personalise the cake too with a photo of us both and a message to go underneath.

Just a few days later it arrived through my letterbox.......that's right cake that comes direct to you through your door.....could life get any better?!?!

I waited (hesitantly) until both Dan and I were home so we could open it together and we were like kids at Christmas. It came in the cutest tin with some candles, balloons, a party blower and card. Now if I'm honest I was a little worried at this point that I would open the tin to find a dented squashed cake but once I lifted the lid I had no reason to worry.

Inside was the most perfect  5" cake with the photo and message I had chosen. I was so taken back by how much care and attention that had gone into packing this cake. The lid itself is padded so that the top of the cake is not squashed and stays moist plus there is a small piece of paper coming from the bottom of the cake so that you can lift it out without ruining it.

It seemed such a shame to have to cut into the cake but Dan as ever was desperate to have a piece so we removed the cake from the bag and cut into it.

When I looked at their website I saw that they offered 6 different flavours; Chocolate, Vanilla, Gluten & Wheat Free, Fruit, Dairy Free and 1/2 Chocolate 1/2 Vanilla. To my delight I had been given my favourite flavour Vanilla! It was so easy to cut, incredibly moist and tasted delicious. The icing was really soft and sweet which was great as I can't stand icing that dries out and goes crumbly.

I highly recommend these cakes and at just £14.99 + P&P for a Letterbox cake this would make the coolest gift for someone special. Head on over to their website www.bakerdays.com to check out all their designs, sizes of cakes and even their cupcakes!

Although the lovely Baker Days sent myself and Dan this gorgeous cake, all the views I have expressed in this post are my own.
