My First week at Slimming World

As you may or may not know I joined Slimming World at the beginning of the year online and although I got on really well and lost a stone in weight I was finding that I was becoming a little slack with sticking to the diet. There was no pressure of weighing in in front of anyone as I was at home doing it myself. So if I had a naughty day and ate what I wanted no one would know as it was me that was going to read the scales.

So, with the wedding in mind, I decided to cancel my online membership and get my bum down to the meetings. Weighing in in front of someone else was really tough but the ladies at Slimming World made it feel so easy and like it was a positive not a negative! I set my goal weight and really got to grips with how the diet works.

My first week went really well, I got back on track with organising my breakfast and lunches the night before. I really stocked up on my super foods and even Dan enjoyed all the yummy food we were eating.

Now this is where I have mixed feelings, I only lost 3 lbs. Although to some this is a lot, as it was my first week I expected a lot more. When I first started at the beginning of the month I lost 8! But after coming home and talking to Dan who told me not to worry and that actually since we have been back from holiday we've both been so good with what we have been eating so technically I hadn't gone from takeaways, chocolate and lots of fatty foods to then eating really well.

I'm still determined to shift the pounds, especially as we are looking at getting married next July. I've got a long way to go but I really think that with Slimming World and also getting back to the gym I could really shift the weight I want by our wedding.

Are you a member of Slimming World? How do you get on with it? Any tips for a newbie?!

Our Trip to Boracay!

With the rain pouring outside I thought I would try and brighten up this dreary Sunday afternoon with a few snaps from our amazing trip to the stunning Island of Boracay in The Philippines. I'd love to take credit for these photos but most of them are taken by my gorgeous fiancée Dan. I will leave all of his social media and website details at the end of this post. He's an amazing photographer, I'm not just saying that because he's my other half, and he regularly shares his work on instagram and twitter so make sure you give him a follow!

Boots Haul

I can't be the only one that has a Boots list on their phone?!? After we got back from holiday I decided to pop over and get the things on my list before it got any longer and this is what I picked up.

Garnier Ultimate Blends The Sleek Restorer Range: I have been obsessed with the shampoo and conditioner for a few months now. I tweeted a photo back in August of a sample I received in a magazine but at that point my hair was so long that it wouldn't have done half my head. So the lovely Garnier got in touch with me and sent over a full size bottle to try and since then I've been hooked. This time I decided to pick up the 1 minute treatment as well to give that a try. PLUS I also got a sample of the oil that was attached to the shampoo!!! If you are looking for a new shampoo and conditioner then I can't recommend this range enough.

Rimmel Wake me Up Foundation: This is without doubt my go to foundation. It never fails to give me all that I need to leave the house feeling confident that I get a full coverage that will last me the day.

Nails inc. Save the Nail 45 second top coat: I have always been a fan of Nails inc top coat but after coming back from holiday I simply couldn't bear to spend the money on it....until I found this in Boots. This is by Nails Inc but is about half the price!

Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Varnish: I know what you're thinking, and no I don't need another nail varnish. But how could I not pick up two of these, they were on 2 for £7 so I just had to give them a try. I picked up the Lap of Honor and Pole Position colours and have already worn them. They really do dry quickly and with my save the nail top coat they have a real shine to them.

Rimmel London GlamEyes Eyeliner: I have been using this eyeliner since I can remember! It's the only one I have found that I can really control and get a clear line with that will last all day.

Seventeen Miracle Matte: I've tried lots of different powders and this is hands down my absolute favourite. I know when I wear this I can spend atleast a full day at work without worrying that I am going slightly shiny.

Garnier Moisture Matte Match: Lastly, I've been looking for a new moisturiser for months now that wasn't going to leave my skin feeling oily and greasy and this one from Garnier is just what I have been looking for. It's so good that Dan has even been helping himself to it!!

So we're engaged.....now what do we do?

I can't believe it's nearly a month since Dan proposed, time is seriously flying by this year. The most asked question we have had is 'when are you getting married?' to which we have always responded....'we have no idea!!' It's all happened so quickly and I was caught so off guard by the proposal that I really haven't thought about it. There are so many factors to take into consideration, Dan's brother is getting married next year so it could be a lot of stress having two weddings in the same year, plus Dan's family have to fly in from Hong Kong so it would be easier to get married in the Summer as that is when they normally come back to the UK. We've spent the last month just enjoying being engaged but I have a feeling we're going to have to start filling in this book!

Dan's Dad and step Mum kindly gave us this huge wedding planner which I have to admit slightly scares me as there is just SO much to do. There are so many things that I never even thought about I just don't know where to start. First things first we need to set a date and a budget, then we'll move onto venues. We have a rough idea of where we want the reception and we definitely know where we are getting married but at the moment we need to start saving pennies as although the venue is just what we are looking for it's a lot more than we had thought.

We attended our first wedding fair last weekend and it was all very overwhelming, again lots of questions that we just didn't know the answer to. 'Have you set a date?' 'What car would you like to arrive in?' 'How many bridesmaids are you having?' 'What flavor cake would you like?'

I need to get my bum in gear really and start working my way through this book. I'm meeting up with two of my oldest friends in a couple of weeks as we are all engaged now so I'll be taking lots of notes from them as they seem far more organised than me!!

Have you got any wedding planning tips for us? Where did you start? Would you like to see more wedding posts?

Things I loved in February

As February is my birthday month I had to include my Birthday in the things i loved! I had such a lovely day, even though I had to go into work. As you will see in the photo I arrived at the office to a desk covered in presents, cakes, balloons, banners, flowers and chocolates. I am so lucky to have such wonderful people around me. I got some really lovely things for my birthday which I will try and include in a blog post if you would like? Although I'm always unsure of those posts as I worry they come across a little bit like your bragging? Let me know what you think. Anyway after work Dan surprised me with a meal out at a lovely Indian restaurant that we had never been to before and it was truly delicious.

Next up is our amazing holiday. We had the holiday of a lifetime and I'm so blessed that we are able to visit these stunning places. We spent the first week in Boracay where something amazing happened (read all about it here) then we flew to Hong Kong to see Dan's Dad, Step Mum and Brothers. It was so nice to spend time with them as we haven't been out to see them in 3 years so we had lots of catching up to do. Whilst we were there we decided to be really healthy and as we both have office jobs we walked absolutely everywhere. We averaged out at about 20,000 steps a day which is a hell of a lot more than we normally do. It was really sad when we left as we really didn't want to go but coming back to lots of excited family/friends and the pets of course made it that little bit more bearable.

Did you hear we're engaged? You're all probably bored of hearing this now but of course this had to go in the things I loved in February. I will never forgot those two weeks, they were really the best two weeks of my life and I will forever be grateful to Dan for making it so special.

Now onto some beauty, I have been loving this toner by Kueshi Natural which really surprised me as to be honest, I'd never heard of them so I didn't think it would be anything to shout about. It wasn't until I ran out of my Liz Earle toner that I grabbed this. But now I am absolutely loving it. I've noticed such a change in my skin. I have the oiliest skin during the winter but this really really helped it so I'm definitely going to repurchase this one.

And finally, snow! During February we were lucky enough to get snow....even if it was just for one morning. None of us really thought we would get any as there had been warnings of snow for weeks but nothing ever materialised. Then one morning we got out of bed and there it was. Dave was mesmerised by the snow as we looked at it from the window, it was so funny. I'm still not sure if he was scared of it or loved it! As I said it didn't last long but at least we were able to enjoy it for one morning.

Birthday Lush Haul

Dan completely spoilt me for my birthday last month which was very naughty of him as we had agreed to save the pennies for our holiday. Never the less he got me lots of amazing treats including all these lovely bath bombs and bubble bars from Lush, so I thought I would share them with you!

Karma Bubble Bar £3.25 each: (This is the bright orange one at the back.) I cannot wait to try this one as although I am completely obsessed with Lush I have yet to try any of their bubble bars. It is made with orange and lemon grass oil which from the reviews people have said makes the bath smell amazing.

Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds £4.75 each: (The large blue one at the front.) Another bubble bar which I will get plenty of use out of as many people say they break the bubble bars up to get a few baths out of them. This one has Patchouli and frankincense in to relax you.

Creamy Candy Bubble Bar £2.75 each: (Pink one on the far left.) This is the one that excites me the most as it smells just like candy floss!! I am such a sweet scented person so this one is perfect for me. I'm going to try my best to cut this in half so I can get two baths out of it.

Sakura Bath Bomb £3.35 each: (Top left.) I actually used this one last night and if you follow me on instagram you will have seen I put up a short video of it being put into the bath. It smells amazing, probably the strongest smelling bath bomb I have used at Lush.

Floating Flower Bomb £3.50 each: (Bottom right) This is actually a Valentines special so is no longer available but I cannot wait to try it. I've heard that this one is extremely colourful!

I always post videos of these as I pop them into the bath so follow me on instagram to see them in action.

After 3 years I finally got my hair done

If you read my 2015 Goals then you will have seen the first thing on my list was to get my hair cut as I haven't cut it (rather embarrassingly) for 3 whole years!! As you know I used to be a hairdresser so I've always been so nervous about other people cutting it but Lauren showed me a photo of one of her friends new haircut and I was so impressed that I just had to find out who did it. I've been desperate to go lighter for a while now as I've been dark haired nearly all my life, other than the 2 years when I was training, I was every colour of the rainbow!

The lovely Ashley had such a tough job as my hair was in desperate need of a good cut. We ended up deciding to take nearly half of it off! It's going to take a few attempts to get it as light as I want to go but I'm so pleased with the results.

A huge thank you to Ashley for completely transforming my hair!
